I was artistically gifted, but “starving artist” was a phrase that I’d hear often. Dad was a diesel mechanic. I loved classic cars. Car mechanic made sense.
I studied automotive technology for two years. Got ASE certified. Landed my first mechanic job. My car’s transmission blew the second week on the job. I couldn’t get to work. Got fired.
But the experience with diagnostic tools gave me a new passion for digital technology. Then it clicked. Combine art with digital technology and you’ve got a designer.
